The brand new Outlander PHEV 2019 has launched and there are significant changes.
On the surface, we’ve refined the already stylish exterior with a new grille, rear spoiler and a range of other subtle enhancements.
But it’s beneath the bonnet where the real changes lie.
The new more stringent fuel economy testing regime has had a big impact on the figures for some cars, not so much the Outlander PHEV. Both electric range and general fuel economy remain impressive.
|WLTP (new testing)||NEDC (current testing)|
|Electric Range||28 miles||33 miles|
|Combined Fuel Economy*||141 mpg||166 mpg|
|CO2 Emissions||46 g/km||41 g/km|
*Combined fuel economy figures are achievable using a combination of electric power and petrol engine with regular charging. As with any car, distance, speed and driving style will affect fuel consumption.
With the 2019 model we had two key goals: further improve the efficiency and EV capacity and make the Outlander PHEV more dynamic and exciting to drive.
The Outlander’s new 2.4 litre Atkinson Cycle petrol engine gives more power and torque, working in perfect harmony with the twin EV motors to produce seemless acceleration and a smoother transition between electric and petrol power.
Steering, chassis and brakes have all been tuned to improve how the car drives, and increased noise reduction makes the experience of being inside the Outlander PHEV sublime and peaceful.
We’ve sold 100,000 Outlander PHEV’s across Europe since it launched in 2014 and with the new model we’re taking everything we’ve learned to make the 2019 Outlander PHEV the most exciting, refined and efficient Outlander yet.
